In the case of possible soil contaminations, the examination and risk assessment of the site referring to the Federal Soil Protection Act has to be performed by the owner. These consist initially in exploratory investigations of points of major contamination suspect. If a suspect is verified by the results of the first examinations, the contaminations have to be localized and quantified by detailed investigations followed then, if the contamination leeds to an evident hazard, by decontamination examinations and decontamination plannings.

Base of the risk assessment is the validation of the contaminatiooon potential in regard of the influencing pathways (soil-human, soil-plant and soil-groundwater). All probe samplings take place at the point of relevance of the pathway that is to be validated. As an example, for a validation of the pathway soil-human (direct contact) these points are the topmost (=reachable by humans) soil layers, depending on the actual or planned use of the site. The validation itself will be performed by the results of analyses of composite samples in comparison with test values, mesured in solid phase.

In the case of possible soil contaminations, wahmhoff consult provides the client with a quick overview of the situation. In the first steps of examination (Phase I) we count on detailled data-research to then be able to adapt the following steps exactly to the extent necessary. Together with you and, if necessary, the authorities, we work out concepts for all further steps, so that the future usage of the site can be prepared without restrictions and delays.
